Your Government has removed a number of your rights set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

They have done this by using ‘emergency powers’.

It’s important to note that there’s no provision in the declaration for suspension of rights - in fact, the opposite.

1/10
First, your right to move around your country.

Government restrictions are preventing your free movement.

Restrictions for tier 4 prevent you from travelling without a ‘legitimate’ purpose, particularly outside a tier 4 area. This is a contravention of Article 13.

2/10
Second, your right to international travel.

Restrictions state: ‘If you live in a Tier 4 area, you can only travel internationally – or within the UK – where you first have a legally permitted reason to leave home.’

This is in clear contravention of Article 13.

3/10
Third, your right to gather with others.

Restrictions state: ‘You must not meet socially or carry out any activities with another person’ unless they are in your household/bubble. This includes indoors & outdoors.

A clear contravention of Article 20.

4/10
Of course, and as is stated in Article 2: ‘*Everyone* is entitled to *all* rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration’ [emphasis mine].

5/10
These rights are protected by the Declaration itself. Article 30 states that *nothing* in the Declaration can be used to destroy any of the rights & freedoms it details.

Therefore, there is no justification from within the declaration for what the Government is doing.

6/10
Given that these rights apply to *everyone* and the Declaration gives no provision for the removal of the rights, there should be recourse to domestic legal protection (Article 7).

This was attempted by @simondolan, unsuccessfully, which is an indictment of our judiciary.

7/10
The Government has withdrawn your rights laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. They claim necessity. Many experts disagree. And even then, the perceived necessity of some is no reason to violate the internationally recognised rights of all.

8/10
As William Pitt the Younger said in 1783: ‘Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.’

Your Government is using the argument of tyrants & if you support them you are chanting the creed of slaves.
