If you're a middle aged bloke looking to get fitter here's a short thread: Over the last last 2 years I've got considerably more fit, here's how i did it. I hope it offers you some encouragement , hope and honesty
I exercise more than I eat ( I almost left the thread there) .
Basically I walk 9-10k steps everyday often more . All the other exercise I do, swimming, gym, yardening, house work, moping round art galleries is extra jam on top. I use a fitbit which keeps me honest.

as to my diet with the help of my NHS dietician I follow a 5:2 diet , where two days a week I eat a restricted calorie meal plan. The rest of the time I'm careful what I eat but I still eat all the food groups, I just eat less of some (carbs) and more of others (Veg)
is any of this hard yes but being a grown up is hard , sorting out your mortgage is a pain, navigating relationships isn't straightforward but as you get fitter it is rewarding and I'm objectively happier than I have been for years.
Being fitter means I get more done, can go places I didn't use to go,I break fewer deck chairs, I sleep better and yes I weigh considerably less than I did even last Christmas. But being being healthier is the main win.
so I hope this helps here's few last tips.
