Socialist Bollywood; A thread:

Pre 90s Bollywood depicted Raj Kapoor's samajwadi Lal Rusi Topi, Hindustani Dil and validation from none other than Russia, Middle East and Eastern Europe. A revolutionary outlook and blatent disregard for merit was seen.
I say revolutionary because the only rags to riches story seen was Amitabh bachchan killing the oppressive capitalist (or marrying his daughter). A meritocratic way to become successful was absent.

The poor being depicted as morally right who is serving an evil capitalist.
Mind you that the capitalist runs his business in the license raj and hence, has substantial political backing. Therefore, it is the government backed Socialism that is oppressing the nation.
However, only the rich is evil. An outlook flowing in the society of refraining from becoming rich. Well who benefits: The Rich. No successful industrialist would want this to change and hence, the hatred towards capitalism.
The same is depicted in the current famous social media joke, "capitalism is bad, (tweeted from iphone)". Consequently I submit, that a fear from losing out in a meritorious society is in fact luring the privileged towards socialism.
I would take Bobby to pragmatically explain my viewpoint for it has a political legacy. As we know this was aired by the socialist Congress regime so that people do not attend JP's rally. In Bobby we saw evil parents who ruthlessly send their only child to boarding school.
("Aapne to raja babu ko apna doodh tak nahi pilaya, aap maa hain?"). See the rich are so bad. They don't love their children. Don't be rich. The child however, having a revolutionary outlook married a 'dil se acchi' poor girl. That's how we were taught how being poor is good.
Needless to say Rajiv Gandhi studied in Doon School, Dehradun. A boarding school that the poor couldn't afford.
Today in a blatantly toxic social media we see two poles. One which acknowledges the challenges of the society and looks at it with a pragmatic outlook i.e. the right, which I embrace and the other is the toxic left which takes the easy, morally high, ideal way out.
Herein the morally high outlook being the erroneous parents sending their only child to a boarding school, who ultimately marries a poor girl. Hunky-Dory.
Pragmatically, people continue to study in boarding schools, parents continue a busy lifestyle, and leave a fortune for their children and the children are also happy. But we were told to be happy in an ideal world wherein rich people are bad.
An ideal world which the privileged told us. An ideal world where iphone users comment capitalism is bad, free umar khalid so he can initiate a revolution against modi's meritocratic capitalism. I applaud my PM for encouraging meritocratic entrepreneurship. Hats off.
