Even when the characters are absolutely two different beings, it greatly captures the relationship between a child and a parent, or a surrogate parent in this case while keeping a jovial/grotesque theme.
(Don’t quote me on this but) Also hints at Greek mythology with references at Apollo and Erebus (Light and Dark gods)
