Business Tip #3 - Competitive Advantage!

It's a tough question - possibly the toughest and harshest #ENVtuber question you'll have to ask yourself. But it is a very important question.

What is your competitive advantage? That is... what makes you stand out? Let's discuss!
Let's take a real life example. Imagine a small town where mom and pop grocery stores thrive. Prices are decent, quality is decent. Lots of character.

Then a Walmart moves in. It has the same quality of goods, but the prices are 25% cheaper. What happens to the smaller stores?
That's right. Many of them can't compete. They go out of business. The ones that survive could be for a few reasons.

1. They manage to beat Walmart in price (unlikely)
2. They provide higher quality than Walmart
3. They provide something Walmart doesn't.
If little Grandma Josie makes the best burgers this in the entire county, she will likely be just fine. Those who "specialize" into one specific niche likely survive, and those who "generalize" likely suffer. You want to be a specialist.
"But Jusagi!" You slam your keyboard furiously. "What does that have to do with Vtubing!"

More than you might think! How many Vtubers are out there right now? You're competing with all of them. Even the big ones.

Yes yes I'm simplifying, but I'm making a point here.
What can you do that no one else can? What do you do BETTER than anyone else?

Are you really funny? Are you really good at one specific game? Do you have a unique design or brand that people remember?
Sure, a good design is a fantastic foundation, but at the end of the day, we're entertainers. We have to be entertaining! I'm not going to watch someone who's boring when I have 10,000 other Vtubers, YouTube videos, and Netflix available.
Some of you might be reading this and thinking "Oh shoot, I can't think of why I stand out!". Don't worry. Realizing there's a problem is the first step to fixing it.

Think about YOU in real life. What talents do you have? Passions? Skills? Experiences?
Imbuing your passions into your Vtuber gives them depth and makes them unique.

Jusagi has a simple design and has very little lore. She's cute (but so are all of you!) but because I'm a skilled marketer and a decent writer, Jusagi stands out! At least a little bit!
Do you play guitar? Can you write music? Do you play TTRPGs? Are you into wrestling? Personal fitness? Manga? Modding? League of (ugh) Legends? I 100% believe everyone is good enough at SOMETHING IRL that can make their Vtuber shine.
That doesn't mean it's going to be easy. Oh absolutely not. Even when you have all this sorted out, that's just the starting line. There's a mountain of work ahead of you. But I strongly believe that work will pay off.
So! That was a long and kind of depressing talk! This is just my opinion and experiences but I want to encourage discussion! What is YOUR competitive advantage? What unique flair or flavour do you bring to the table?
