i feel like stans have been so accustomed to having this idea that Kpop is either influenced by modern western sounds or JPOP (Japanese Pop), which some can argue is true but we also cannot deny the OVERWHELMING evidence in their styles, hair, music and performances that is +
+ influenced by black american pop culture. since kpop stans or even just the industry have gotten so used to this idea, everyday we are continuously devaluing and ignoring black and south asians feelings / thoughts on CA, racism and colorism. i want to remind y’all being a POC +
+ doesn’t exempt you from conversation of racism and you can still uphold racist & colorist ideas or mindsets. being a poc also doesn’t mean you share the same experiences as black people or south asian brown people as well. there have been +
+ so many black stans that are leaving kpop because we are tired of being profited, having a culture appropriated or being labeled as an anti when trying to hold labels / idols accountable.
i’m tired of this narrative that east asians aren’t educated on racism, as if this isn’t common knowledge. if you’re target audience is mostly international i except that you should educate yourself on things of this topic.
east asian pop cultural is literally built upon being anti-black, such as things like having pale skin being the beauty standard and white washing idols to make them more appealing.
sorry for switching topics so fast but i wanted to get into why exactly black stans feel so unsupported in this community. we already see from korean fans on weverse / other platforms how anti black they are when it comes to black stans or matters of CA. it’s not uncommon to see+
+ how fast they will try to sweep it under the rug or demonize black stans for feeling a certain way. there have been multiple times on this app alone where black stans have been quite literally targeted just because they are BLACK or doxxed for trying to hold idols accountable.
this is extremely wrong and DISGUSTING. another example of kpop community being anti black is when it comes to fatou (a black idol) and how much you guys like to bash her and racially profile her just because she’s not korean. it’s weird and i feel like we owe her an apology a
very sincere apology. just recently her comments were flooded with racist propaganda, imagine. you guys make me sick tbh. i can go on and on but the point is, we as a community need to do better and start holding EVERYONE accountable not just the groups you anti bc you wanna +
+ engage in petty ass fan wars ( which is literally weaponizing black trauma) and not just to push your own weird ass agenda. the bobby brown and JYP situation is just one example out of hundreds of yall doing this shit.
another thing i wanted to talk about is how some black stans are literally invalidating other black ppl for idols, first off youre a c00n second dr umar gonna get your ass for that in the future. (also just bc a black stan says they’re okay with CA doesn’t mean they’re speaking +
+ for the entirety of the black community, we are individuals speaking for OURSELVES remember that ) lastly if you are not black or east asian idc about your opinion about anything i said !
!! this doesn’t give you an opportunity to be xenophobic or racist @ black ppl, we need to start holding our community accountable on things like this as well !!
