➳ Shownu dance thread

Just a thread to appreciate Shownu for being an amazing dancer. I have some talking to do before the clips, hold there.
Yes, Shownu does hip hop but he can dance in a wide range of styles (Monbebes need to hear this). Between being a trainee on JYP and Starship he spent some time as a freelance dancer and was close with the DQ team. He is also close with the FREEMIND team and trained at 1MILLION.
Shownu learns choreographies easily and doesn't forget them once learned, he's almost a choreo encyclopedia. Just as a trivia, here's Shownu guessing 2PM Heartbeat right before 2PM member Nickhun. After that they danced together like it was rehearsed.
Can I mention how hard it is to dance insync when you didn't practice together? That's why some collab stages turn out a mess, but Shownu never misses a beat, everyone else could be out of sync but not this man.
Initially, Shownu paid attention to every move while performing but later he changed that to focus on other things while dancing.

Now he uses practice time to repeat every move to the point of perfection and lets his muscular memory do the rest when performing live.
And that's how Shownu honed his dance skills to a point where he's precise and his moves don't look too over-rehearsed.

His dance is powerful but looks light as opposed to his build, and he can pull a wide range of styles.
For this reason, Shownu has been praised by professionals throughout his entire career.

He was chosen by FREEMIND choreographer Kim Young Oh as the best idol dancer alongside Kai from EXO:

Shownu even got chosen as the judge in charge of dancing in the audition show CAP-TEEN.

Right in the first episode Shownu was praised for his sharp eyes that evolved with experience, he even noticed that one of the trainees added her own choreography to the performance.
Contrary to popular belief, Shownu is very flexible even though he is so big.
Shownu ranked #5 on YouTube channel's techie_ray list of the list of Most Consistent K-Pop Male Dancers Analyzed by a Computer.

The programmer said another other member's limbs probably affected the result (they were close and wearing all white), his real score is even higher.
While on the topic consistency and synchronization, there's this video I like, it was posted originally by the YouTube channel moonlight 문라잇.
The original:

All the dances in this (Kang Baekho, Versace on the Floor, Psychic) are self-choreographed.
And in this one he was just messing around but still did amazing.
This is a freestyle Shownu did when Monsta X guested on Weekly Idol as rookies. This is very hip hop.
And another light freestyle Shownu did for Who do U Love MV, a completely different style compared to the previous. For me the focus is on his hips and expressions here.
Shownu did krumping on one of his performances for Hit the Stage, it's something very difficult to pull off because it requires A LOT of body control.
Another performance from Hit the Stage, just because his hips did a thing here
I always get stuck in this loop of Shownu doing a spin for Fighter MV.
Here he did two spins and landed perfectly on beat, he did the next move in perfect sync with the others.
Look at his footwork in the Play it Cool Behind.
In this cover of LA Girls you can see Shownu's powerful but light movements, at times it looks like he's floating.

There's more but this iss getting too long so I'll end the thread here with a personal favorite, Mirror, the song created by Shownu and Wonho for the We Are Here tour.

Wonho produced the song and Shownu choreographed it. See how they insync though they can't see each other.
Thank you to everyone who enjoyed this thread 💙

If you enjoyed this but don't stan Shownu you should know he is also a great singer on top of being a great dancer, but he still remains humble.

This is Monsta X's most recent comeback.
