I love #music. Nobody asked, but here’s what I loved in 2020. Some of it was released in 2020, some of it is older and for whatever reason I kept going back to it. Thread. #2020music
Was thrilled to discover @nathanleighsays on Bandcamp. Crazy talent, smart and often political. He’s my favorite find of 2020. Check this one out. https://open.spotify.com/track/5pFKX5NdQcsedXqC9t2pde?si=fdenlHs9QHqEJl_u2Vyz-g
Love Idles. This one was my angry anthem all year. https://open.spotify.com/track/620IDPWRadDTa6F37LhOb1?si=c3Ttpr9DS1StBpQfPbmvaw
Still here? Well @bobmouldmusic is one of my favorites of all time. Workbook is in my top 3 ever. He’s putting out great music that sounds like Sugar to me. https://open.spotify.com/track/1ZUJj6obNJaVMmCqccfBql?si=E2yJUDesSWSltgpjW-WNrQ
I couldn’t wrap my head around Fiona Apple’s Fetch The Bolt Cutters for a bit, but it’s an intense album that grew and grew on me. Listen to this. My goodness. https://open.spotify.com/track/2pDKE8Q40TDGPl1O11DKKn?si=9nvbwiHUTZ2TyySA__3ieA
Toward the end of the year, I started listening to Springsteen. Always appreciated him, but never really listened. There’s a reason why Born To Run is a revered album. Jungle Land. Come on! https://open.spotify.com/track/3R2q3FCnNIw2XhuEbYtYk6?si=BTtTx2piSXGrqfrcD7n9bA
There was the usual Spoon, The Decemberists, New Pornographers, REM, Elvis Costello. Lots of good new songs my son shares with me. Harder and harder to find music that suits my 49-year-old brain, but this stuff really did it for me this year.
