Here's my veganuary thread. I'm a long-term vegan based in the UK, and I'm going to post meals and tips all month. I like a balance of whole foods and convenience. If you have any questions about going vegan, feel free to ask.

There's lots of choice now for vegan versions of things, like milk or cheese. Don't be put off if you don't like the first one you try, they're all different. #Veganuary
2 January breakfast - if your local friendly vegan or health foods shop sells these, I'd thoroughly recommend them

It's Saturday night, do you fancy a takeaway? You could check @HappyCow for vegan or vegan-friendly eateries in your local area. Alternatively, check the menu of your usual favourites, and give them a call to ask about ingredients if you're not sure.

3 January breakfast - most non-vegans will say "ewww" if you mention scrambled tofu, because they imagine something wet, white, and bland. But if you drain tofu and fry it with seasonings of your choice it can be tasty and satisfying without being too heavy...
Scrambled tofu fans all have their own way of making it. I like to brown it a little, then add smoked paprika, garlic granules, salt and pepper, and nutritional yeast flakes. My husband does something completely different with slowly cooked onions, turmeric, and vegan butter.
You might notice that my bread is usually home made. It's just because I prefer real bread, it's not a vegan thing. Most bread you can buy in the supermarket is vegan.
3 January - a slice of Christmas cake. If you're doing #Veganuary you're probably not thinking about next Christmas right now, but you can buy Christmas cake and pudding and mince pies in the supermarket now, and it's easy to make your own too. And I promise it tastes the same!
3 January dinner - a post-Christmas bargain from Asda. We're going to have this with roast potatoes and veggies. #Veganuary #Veganuary2021
4 January - back to work so back to a normal weekday breakfast. Today I'm having overnight oats. I have half a mug each of oats and plant milk, some chia seeds, a couple of prunes, and some frozen fruit. Other days I'll have toast or cereal.

5 January - an intro to the bowl, a selection of healthy and tasty delights, artfully (or not) presented in a bowl. We had spicy chipotle tofu, peppers, brown rice, black beans, sweetcorn, tomatoes, and avocado. For transparency, yesterday we had nugs. #Veganuary #Veganuary2021
6 January breakfast - a cinnamon and raisin bagel, and a banana. Don't forget that a lot of what you already eat happens to be accidentally vegan, not everything will need replacing. #Veganuary #Veganuary2021
It's a few days in to #Veganuary2021 and if you're finding it difficult it's completely understandable. Here in the UK it's freezing cold, it's dark, and we're back in lockdown. A few tips if you are:
1. Remind yourself why people are vegan. Read up on it, look at facts, talk to vegans, listen to podcasts, watch films.
2. If you're craving something in particular, there will usually be something vegan available that will satisfy the craving. Feel free to ask for recommendations.
3. Finally, don't forget that if you go wrong once it doesn't have to be the end of the story. Follow the tips above and keep going.
Seven years ago this week I was having particularly vivid dreams about camembert, I've been there.
A lot of cleaning products contain animal products, are tested on animals, or both. Luckily, vegan and cruelty free products are easy to find now. Here are some of my favourites.
