Aside from being the start of 2021, January 1st marks the 27th anniversary of the Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle and the uprising of the #EZLN
I always recommend this documentary on the topic. It covers both their history and the internal workings of their municipalities (turn on English subtitles if you don't speak Spanish)
