Here’s something I think about a lot when *Dry January* comes around:

—>The responsibility of bar/restaurants and the responsibility of patrons. <—

It’s a tricky situation sometimes and one that is almost taboo to talk about, but I think that’s a problem....
If you struggle with drinking, or even struggle with mental or physical health issues that drinking allows you escape from, please let us know and ask us for help. We don’t have all of the answers, but we are on your team.

There are restaurants that don’t care...
About your health. You’re a number, you are part of that periods analytics of growth versus decline, but not here at Lug or Sahm’s. Our family has addiction issues too, SOOOO many families in the city and country do. Part of our restaurant’s mission is to better our community.
To better our community means to look out for everyone, not just the ones who spend money with us or like our tweets. You buying a beer is nice, but not what makes us love you. We love you because you take the time out of your day to support local and support your ‘hood....
People who do that tend to do that in many ways, volunteering, grocery shopping, gift buying, banking, etc. Your patronage means you’re the type of person who has their community at the forefront. You are an active member and we are here to build with you....
So as Dry Janaury starts, begin by asking yourself why you do it. If there is a bigger problem, talk to someone. If you feel uncomfortable coming in, let us know, tell your bartender, have a discussion, sobriety is important to you and your health is important to us....
Cheers doesn’t have to be a drinking term. We cheer for the people who live around us. We cheer for our staffs to be healthy and do great things. Start making connections with businesses, even if a beer isn’t in the cards.

Cheers to you and to 2021.

❤️-Eddie
