Final thoughts on Dressrosa (thread) : A phenomenal arc with a wide cast of characters and a great setting + plot that was an absolute joy to read!! The reoccurring theme of freedom was particularly interesting to me as it appears throughout the arc-
Corazon sought to free Law from his illness and Doflamingo in Law's flashback ,the tontatta tribe sought to free their race from slavery in the Smile factory and the citizens of Dressrosa who were unfortunately turned into toys sought freedom from their circumstances-
While Law and Luffy sought to free Dressrosa from Doflamingo's tyrannical reign. There were many moments i very much adored ,especially the relationship and story of Kyros and his daughter Rebecca who were great side characters in this arc and were one of the highlights of it. ..
Doflamingo as a villain was INCREDIBLE , i was so taken by his tactics and cunning , manipulative personality. The dethroning of King Riku and the massacre of Dressrosa were such devilish acts but his murdering of Corazon has to be the most diabolic and heartbreaking crime-
he had commit. It was even more impactful when seeing Law and Corazon's relationship grow as Corazon deeply and wholly cared for Law and took responsibility for him maybe even as if he were his son....
The final fight scene with Luffy and Doflamingo was so AMAZING as well. There was so much tension and high stakes as Doflamingo's birdcage was closing in on Dressrosa. Luffy's gear four moment had me so damn HYPE , seeing him come so far as a character was so heartwarming to me.
i could go on and on about how masterful Dressrosa is and how much i adored the storytelling in this arc but i'll stop here. Dressrosa is a beautiful story and it has gladly taken my top 1 position in favorite One piece arcs!
