I think one of the things that excites me most about the work that's being done over at @ComicsXF (formerly Xavier Files), is that it's writing on comics that I have nothing at all to do with. I'll explain:
I am older than dirt, and have been writing about comics on the internet for 20 years. I came up through the first post-millennial era of purely online critics, the Savant/NinthArt/Artbomb/Savage Critics era, and knew most of the people involved
I had largely moved away from the writing (and, with Robot Fist, siterunning) side of things by the time of the second major wave, which I'd characterise as led by sites like ComicsAlliance, WWAC and others, and while I knew a lot of the writers, I wasn't directly involved
And now, with outlets like ComicsXF, PanelxPanel and Shelfdust, we have a newer generation of comics critics whom I don't know from old message boards, whose ways of thinking I don't know inside out, who are writing brilliant and unpredictable pieces and it is *so*exciting*to*me*
