Trippier has been banned from playing football for 10 weeks and it seems Atleti are on the market for a right back. We already have Vrsaljko, but I am still here to provide you with 5 replacements for Trippier that I find ideal.

5. MartĂn CĂĄceres
33 year old Uruguayan at Fiorentina. There had to be a Uruguayan somewhere, itâs a FVF thread. Tbh, you can ignore this inclusion, but he is the âdefensive optionâ of the list. This season he has played RWB and LCB in a back 5 and RB and CB in a back 4.

A very complete player, that could be useful in many ways. His long shot is insane, much better than Trippierâs. His far post cross is very good, always puts the right weight to it. Definitely not as comfortable on the ball as Trippier though.
His best attributes are the defensive ones. He is world class at 1v1s, if you go 1v1 against him you are not winning. CĂĄceres is so fast on the turn, has very fast hips. Heâs also very fast and very strong, much better than Trippier in both, so heâll be good against fast wingers.
And, he is Uruguayan, so his work rates are amazing and heâll work hard in training and for the team. Of course, not as good on the ball and on the pass as Tripps, so his combo with Llorente wonât be as good. But heâs stronger, faster and a defensive wall, which Trippier isnât.
4. Hamari Traoré
28 year old Malian at Rennes. Has only played in a back 4, but he has the skillset to play in a back 5 comfortably. Traoré has the unique ability to dominate the whole wing on his own, very few full-backs can. Was very good in the UCL this season.

Traoré is a fast and very powerful player. Always looks to combine with Doku, Doku will receive the ball wide and Traoré will make runs inside. That has been constant this season for Rennes and that combo is very similar to the Tripps x Llorente. So he could do well with Lemar.
He is also very good at whipping crosses on the run, which Trippier isnât. Although Trippier has a lot of variety in his crosses, TraorĂ© doesnât. The Malian is good at front post crosses and quite weak at other types of crosses. That makes him a bit predictable at times.
In defence, Traoré is good at anticipating and reaching the ball before the opponent. Being faster and more powerful than Trippier makes him much better than the Englishman at this. However, both are questionable regarding the positioning in defence.
3. Ainsley Maitland-Niles
23 year old English at Arsenal. Out of favour at Arsenal, being a sub to BellerĂn, he wants out and would be available cheap. Played in a back 5 and a back 4, but can cover other positions, like midfield or higher up the pitch.

Maitland-Niles is superb technically and athletically, much better than Trippier on both. Fantastic on the ball, great ball carrier and great dribbling. Very agile and fast player, will keep up with pacey wingers easily, but wonât dominate the whole wing like TraorĂ©.
His early crosses from deep and passes into the half spaces are very good, but both not as good as Trippierâs. Heâll produce more than Trippier in the final third though, heâs very reliable there. Although, Ainsley wonât explode past opponents or overlap that much with his speed.
In defence he is questionable. Maitland-Niles will keep up with fast wingers, but most times he rushes tackles and it could be dangerous. Heâs also very good linking with others, always looks to find a teammate inside and his cross field passes are very good.
2. Ander Capa
28 year old Spanish at Athletic Bilbao. Since joining Bilbao, he has consistently been superb and, in my opinion, the best performing right back in LaLiga. Capa has only played in a back 4, but I believe he could do an admirable job at RWB.

Ander Capa is an absolute powerhouse, if you see him running towards you, you are most likely dead. His runs are not only brutish and full of power, they are intelligent. Capa overlaps and works in the blindside of defenders very well. Heâs so good at arriving late in the box.
The Spaniard also likes to make runs inside, as his runs are very powerful, thereâs no stopping him. His best crosses come when heâs near the byline, once he makes the overlap. And Capa has mastered the cut back cross, players that arrive late in the box will be highly benefited.
His positioning is perfect, combined with his power and strength, itâs very hard to get past him on defence. Sometimes he overuses his strength and commits fouls, but generally knows how to use his body. Capaâs shot power is also insane, if he gets space to shoot, he will score.
1. Gonzalo Montiel
24 year old Argentinian at River Plate. The best full-back in South America, without a doubt. Montiel has been fantastic for Gallardoâs River, instrumental in their Libertadores win in 2018. Has played in a back 5 and back 4 and as RB, RWB, RCB and RM.

Montiel is so elite, has everything you want from a full-back. Super comfortable on the ball, great creativity, good link-up play, overlaps, brilliant crosses, etc. He has a lot of different ways to finish his chances, he can run into the box or cross as he does both very well.
He can make virtually every single type of cross admirably, but his specialities are early crosses and byline crosses. He has also mastered the cut back cross. Not as powerful as Capa, but superior intelligence and understanding. Extremely technical and athletic, more than AMN.
He will constantly look to play one twoâs with teammates and this is something so beneficial in a RB, can open up the game. Montiel is also magnificent at take ons, which no right back on the list is massive at. And on defence, heâs solid on 1v1s and his positioning is perfect.
So, to sum up:
CĂĄceres: defensive monster and useful player.
Traoré: power and speed bursts.
AMN: athletic and great passing.
Capa: powerhouse, super strength, brutish manners and great runs.
Montiel: technical, athletic and outstanding intelligence.

And all of them would be quite cheap (Transfermarkt):
CĂĄceres: ÂŁ900k
Traoré: £7.2M
AMN: ÂŁ16.2M (would be cheaper as AMN wants to leave and Arsenal donât use him)
Capa: ÂŁ4.5M
Montiel: ÂŁ7.2M

That was it for the thread lads, hope you liked it. I find these 5 players ideal to replace Trippier and some could even take over the Englishman, considering heâs already 30 and wonât be here for long. You can tell me your top choices to replace him as well.
