I’ll switch things up a bit.
What were some changes due to COVID-19 that you’d like to see be maintained after the pandemic?
I’ll start.
-Masks when sick
-Staying home when sick & getting rid of the Drs. note
-Strong gov’t flu shot campaigns & greater public uptake
(Cont’d)

-Regular gov’t PCs to increase accountability & media scrutiny
-Capacity limits & booking time slots for gyms. Strict enforcement of cleaning equipment
-(Trying) to limit capacity in stores & discouraging entire families when unnecessary
-OPEN STREETS. BRING IT BACK!!

Emphasizing buying and supporting local. Lots of talent worth supporting in this city and province. Manitobans need to give themselves a well-deserved pat on the back for filling the gaps of a largely-absent gov’t role.
What i’ll gladly leave behind beyond the obvious:
Zoom University. Zoom Conferences/Webex/Microsoft Teams everything. Exhausting, mind-numbing, inequitable, & works in a pinch. Doesn’t replace human contact & cannot/shouldnt be fully celebrated as the future of working/education.

What also needs to change: @MBGov needs to provide an online application process for Rent Assist. Majority of renters are unlikely to have printers & many low income folks don’t have cars. Made printing & submitting applications very stressful esp. in a pandemic
What also needs to change Pt 2: the conservative mindset that for profit, private interests are welcomed in health, personal care home settings and beyond, along with austerity responses to education, health, public sector... Make all of the PCs re-take Macro and Micro Econ 101
Situations that confront your own ideological preferences are not easy. Yet, government leadership, deficits & spending is necessary to guide a society through crisis. Short term , ideological horizons & party interests shouldn’t guide responses & will erode a social contract.
@MBGov needs to address the useless rent control RTA legislation & the RTB. Would love to see the PCs address it. There may be a conflict of interest given that the family of a PC MLA owns one of the largest property companies in the city.
Ok now i’m just airing out my policy wishes for the province. I’ll stop now.
