WHO IS F(X)?

a thread about f(x), its members, and what they did to kpop industry.

first of all, if you wanna talk trash about any of the members please don't read this thread. i make this to appreciate them, and i've had enough with people badmouthing my girls when they know nothing about them.

f(x) is a girlgroup debuted back in september 2009, under SM ent. the company labelled the group as "asia pop dance group" because in fact, all members dance so well with complicated choreo.

f(x) contains of 5 members. the leader and oldest member, victoria, was then 22 y.o. and the youngest member, krystal was barely 15.

they debuted with a single called lachata which released on sept 1st and the broadcast debut wa on sept 5th.

the name f(x) was taken from a function of mathematics, which means that they would carry out various activities, based on the various talents and attractiveness of the members, like the formula whose results change depending on the value of x.

In addition, "f" symbolizes flower and "x" symbolizes 'X' on the female chromosome XX which, taken together, symbolizes "flower reminiscent of women."

f(x) final line up was changed several times until SM decided to debut a multinational girlgroup so they add victoria (chinese) and amber (american born chinese) to the final line up.

fun facts of their trainee days:

1. leader vic was so strict in their training schedule. would ask them to keep practicing till perfect. she later felt bad about it. but the hard work paid off!

2. luna was known among trainees as the hardworker trainee. would keep practicing all night even though other trainees have left. one day she got nosebleed when she came home after spent all night practicing.

3. sulli was from busan so she had to live in SM dorm. she shared a room with snsd taeyeon and tiffany.
krystal lived in her parents' house but sulli and krystal would always wait for each other to finish practicing so they could go home together

4. predebut amber was an sm stan (especially a sone)
she told her sone friends that she came to korea as a student exchange and met snsd members in sm building lol

she couldn't speak korean at all so krystal taught her and they became close real fast

5. one day fans mistaken krystal and amber as yoona and donghae when they walked outside sm building. then the rumor about yoona and donghae dating started to spread out when in fact it was krystal and amber

one of their legendary stages was lacahata in the rain or "rain cha ta"

they just debuted and performed in heavy rain but nailed it with powerful dance and big smiles

f(x) official color is pearl light periwinkle. we have been using this color since their debut in 2009. maybe some of you would think "it's just a color" but as a fandom who only got official fandom name and concert 7 YEARS after debut, this color is really important to us

f(x) official fandom is MeU (미유) which was announced 7 years after their debut on the last day of their korean concert, 31st Jan 2016.

imagine our feeling when finally got a name after being nameless for 7 years :')

after we got the fandom name, the members kept calling us "우리 미유, our MeU" with endearing tone. they're happy to have a fandom name after 7 years

MeU can be taken literally Me+U which also one of f(x) song title and also symbolizes the mathematical term "mu" (µ), relating to the group's name.

f(x) fandom color periwinkle symbolizes blossoming friendships, sentimental memories, and everlasting love. the flower periwinkle also has 5 petals, which symbolizes 5 members of f(x)

fun fact: international fans like to call them function girls and korean fans likes to call them 함수니들 (hamsoonie) from the world "hamsu" which literally means function

also the timeline may get messy cause recalling their 11 years of activities and memories is hard bruh

f(x) is known for their unique concept hence called experimental girl group. when they debuted in 2009, no other kpop gg has similar concept.
they're the first gg with a tomboy member and also the first gg with chinese member.

in terms of music, f(x) was always ahead of its time. their early years of debut mostly had electricpop or dance music which was new for kpop gg at that time.
they're also the trendsetter of fashion. first gg who had ombre hair (nu abo era)

f(x) fans are mostly fangirls because they have girl crush image. they're one of the pioneers of the current popular girl crush concept.

since my bias is krystal, let me start from her.

krystal jung. birth name: chrystal soo jung. korean name: jung soojung. currently active as actress jung soojung.

born in san fransisco, october 24 1994.

the younger sister of jessica jung who was an snsd member.

krystal was scouted by SM when she was 5 (in early 2000). her family was in south korea back then and an SM staff found her when they're in department store.

we know SM scouting staff always have good eyes and to think they scouted her at 5 y.o, imagine how beautiful she was?

SM offered krystal and her sister jessica to be a trainee but the offer was turned down by her parents because she was too young. so they only allowed jessica to join the agency at first.

however, young krystal appeared in many CFs and several MVs

one of krystal legendary CF back in 2002

as a child, krystal was a very shy and timid girl. her sister jessica once said little krystal would cry everytime people stared at her because she's so pretty. jessica would then calm her down by saying "it's ok, they're looking at you because you're pretty"

krystal began her idol trainee life in 2006. spent 3 years training before debuted as f(x) maknae in 2009.

krystal said at first she didn't have that much ambition to debut, only treating trainee life as an extracurricular activity after school.

f(x) members spent trainee life with shinee members. krystal was particularly close to jonghyun, treated him like her real brother. jonghyun once said krystal used to hide in bathroom when they held monthly evaluation for trainees because she's scared

krystal's ambition to debut gradually grew as she kept practicing and she worked so hard after she's announced as a member of f(x) final line up.

she debuted 1 month before her 15 birthday as the center and maknae of f(x)

there's a reason why krystal was chosen as the center of f(x). she has strong aura and stage presence. still one of the best (if not the best) kpop girlgroup center till this day

krystal is more than just her visual and aura. she also has good skill in dancing and singing hence many people acknowledge that she's the standard of female idol.

krystal has a really nice vocal color. this duet with exo's chen is my favorite song that showcased krystal's vocal. song title: when i was, when you were. released in SM the ballad vol.2 album back in 2014

krystal and jessica were the kpop popular sisters and they had several stages together. my favorite is this one, krystal was playing piano while jessica was singing

beside her idol activities, krystal started her acting career early. she began her acting in 2010, started to get known as an actress after staring in high kick 3 (2011). her popular gesture "bbuing bbuing" actually became a trend for years

krystal is so athletic. in 2011, 17 y.o krystal won a figure skating competition which paired celebrities with athletes, when she never had experience before! even the figure skater queen kim yuna said she could be a professional if she wants!

about krystal personality.

non-fans might see krystal as a strong, cool woman. while it's true, she's also very fragile.

krystal is actually cute, bubbly, and talkactive with people she's comfortable but she's shy and nervous with strangers or large crowds. when's she's not performing, idol krystal was still a timid girl.

she often got misunderstood because her rbf, people thought she's cold and rude, while in fact it's just her natural expression.

she got so many hates and groundless rumors about her attitude, and SM never once took action against it.

krystal is really hardworking. always doing her schedules perfectly. she fainted on stage several times because she's exhausted but still finish her schedule. her relationship with her members, co-workers, and staff is also good. she maintains long time friendship with them
