I'm glad to help white Rurals from a public policy perspective. But I otherwise don't care what these people think or what they want from their votes. They don't vote to improve their lives as much as make other people's lives worse.

Understanding a farmer who would vote for Trump despite him killing their long-term Economic well-being with a trade war isn't difficult- they're hateful and stupid people.

In fact I think we can finally dispense with the fiction of the noble small towns in America. The places decaying economically, morally and intellectually the fastest. And maybe twas always thus.

Some of their more successful progeny escape these culturally rotted places only to try to replicate them in their fresh new suburb. But eventually, and it may be soon, they wash out.

Trumpism above all was the last gasp of a white America that believes America is by them and for them first.
