So. Today I’m giving up drinking for the month of January at least. Why? Looking for some performance gains in my training. That’s literally it. This will be a daily journal of how it’s going. How much did I drink? A lot. Join along and chime in if you’d like.

And so concludes day #1. Restless sleep last night, wasn’t “tired” when I went to bed at 21:30. Seemed to take forever to get to sleep. Hit the snooze a couple times this morning. Coffee seems to be hitting harder than normal. My new “drug”?
Feel great this morning.

And day 2 is done. Slept really well last night. Slept late. Feel good this morning. Run day today. So let us see what the day brings.
And day 3 is over. Sleep seems to be getting better. Waking up is better. Yesterday’s run felt really good. Mostly noticing a difference in hydration. Haven’t had a dream in the past three days. Interesting. No cravings either, even with alcohol in the house.
So addendum to. Today’s workout was pretty amazing. While good, I wasn’t absolutely gassed at the end. Yet posted more reps almost across the entire board, minus 1 set. And I drank less water during, normally I take small sips because my mouth gets super dry. Not today.
So concludes day 4. A little difficult due to habit. Usually after work I’ll come home, make a drink and we’ll just hang out, chat, make a drink, play a game, make a drink, make dinner, make a drink....
But I made it.

And day 5 is done. Worked out last night after work. No antsyness, had a pretty decent WOD. Didn’t think I’d like it, but yeah it works. Sleep was a little restless but not bad. And I had a dream. Hadn’t had one since I quit. I usually dream quite a bit. Feel great this morning
And day 6 down the drain. Nothing really different to report. Recovery from WOD’s does seem to be faster, as in not as sore or tight.
Day 7 done. Nothing new to report. Just chugging along.
And a solid week done and gone. Feel good this morning, Friday night would have been a normal night to tie one on. Other than that pretty much everything else is the same. If you’re thinking about it, just try it, it’s no where near as bad as I thought it would be
