New year, new chances.

Having a good preparation is half the battle. This thread gives advice on how to make a proper plan and progress your career in tech quickly!

🧵👇
Pick a specialization.

Being a generalist is safer, but doesn't make your output stand out.

Pick something you like e.g. ML, Serverless, Databases, Big Data but also make sure there is demand.
Write down your goals.

What would you like to learn or improve this year?

Let’s take python as an example and create a list of tasks:

1. Finish a couple of small python projects.
2. Finish a udemy course on python
3. Contribute to an open source project
Actively seek feedback from clients and team members.

Keep the feedback loop short. Don't wait for the end-year review.
It's easy to say "No" to things you've never tried like giving presentations.

See it as a challenge and at least try out new things. You might discover a new talent or a new career path while you're at it!
