The best took place in a town similar to mine but it had some differences that I won't get into.
The focal point was the disappearance of a few kids from generations earlier, there was even my late grandmother talking about them.

The focal point was the disappearance of a few kids from generations earlier, there was even my late grandmother talking about them.
The kids disappeared under unknown circumstances, nobody knew what they looked like, what their names were and most importantly what happened to them, making them a local legend.
Then the murders linked to the kids started, my grandmother becoming one of them.

That's when I decided to investigate this phenomenon, I remember distinctly running in front of the church followed by the ghosts of the kids, their bodies and faces were distorted into monstrous forms, to reflect all of the myths associated with them.
Because an old myth at some point is destined to suffer from exaggerations to spice their story up and misunderstandings their vengeful ghosts came back to show everyone what their image had become because of all the misinformation.
The reason they came back was simple: live up to all of the myths and legends associated with them and punish the town for twisting their image to monstrous children.
I don't remember much else, only thing was, I managed to move to the next town over, it wasn't my business.
