There is a lot of “may do” this and that with kidneys and protein. What’s been demonstrated.
Here is one (there are more). Low protein (1.3g/kg vs 0.58) in those with GFR 25-55.
No significant difference.

Looks like it wasn’t perfect but there is a definite difference in the two groups.
How about low protein (0.58g/kg) vs a keto-amino-acid supplemented very low protein (0.28g/kg) diet?
ESRD or Death outcome.
