✨ End of the Year ✨ writing thread:

2020 was my first year venturing into the writing world as a freelance journalist. I'm incredibly grateful for all the wonderful editors I've worked with and the kind writers I've befriended. Here's a 🧵 of what I wrote this year #recap2020
I interviewed the brilliant artist Toni Jones @WIFEyourLIFE about why women's sacrifice ≠ kindness.

"We’ve been programmed to believe self-care is selfish or indulgent, so scheduling ‘me-time’ doesn’t feel natural. It’s hard to go against that conditioning." 👇
I wrote about why "just buy men's stuff" is NOT the solution for the growing problem of #pinktax.

"Women in most countries are already making less money than men for the same work. Yet, in a tragic irony, they are expected to pay more for getting their basic needs met." 👇
For this article on Pink Tax, I spoke to Angela Mustone, President of @HighOnLove_HOL a woman-owned
luxury sexual wellness and cosmetic brand; and Dr. Cassandra Fay LeClair, who teaches pink tax at @txst.

I worked as an international correspondent for @digitalprivacy reporting on the #fakenews crisis in Brazil. Investigating the threats to freedom of expression and the right to privacy, I spoke to experts: @thiagodoliva @internetlabbr @nsouthwick @txitua @EFF @ArickWierson👇
I also reported on the #internetshutdown in India that has cut off access to medical care, leaving citizens helpless during the COVID-19 crisis.

Drawing from more writing experiences, I shared 3 major lessons I learned writing picture descriptions.

"You could pitch the world’s most interesting idea, but without an angle, it is too loose to be tied into a story."

But wait, enough work, you need rest too. I wrote about how to stop feeling guilty about taking time off. (My first PRINT piece!) @BronzeMagazine #burnout https://issuu.com/bronzemagazine/docs/sept_2020_digital_issue/12
In 2021, I look forward to writing reported features and essays covering women's issues, culture, identity, health & wellness, business, technology, and of course psychology which I'm studying. Editors, if you'd like to commission me, DM or email [email protected]. ✨
