Sure, you can read 50-60 books a year. But how much do you really absorb?
This is really something that young readers should consider.
A 40 or 50 y/o can very easily do 60 books a year and absorb most of it if they have been reading all their life.
But as 20 y/os, we haven't read enough to have a strong enough base to help us read that fast.

I would rather read 20 books, and spend the rest of the time exploring the references mentioned in the books, as well as reading around the subject on the web.
To me, reading endless pages doesn't make a lot of sense if I cannot understand and retain it.

I wish I had realized this a few years ago. I spent my undergrad years reading mindlessly to hit reading goals. TBH, I don't remember most of it. Reading for the sake of reading is a waste of time.
