Okay, as promised here are a few of my favorite sled dog photos from 2020 (which basically is just the #Iditarod Start and ReStart... *sigh*). First up is my girl @alaskandoggirl and team during the Ceremonial Start. She stopped to get my package of cookies right after.
I don't know that I will ever get a better photo of Lance Mackey than I did during the Ceremonial Start of this past year's Iditarod. It was such a difficult year for Lance and his family, my prayer is that 2021 will be one filled with hope and joy for the Mackeys.
Anna Berington's lead dogs lookin' fine during the Iditarod Start.
Aliy Zirkle's Lead Dogs during the Ceremonial Start.
"On by!" Travis Beals passes Mitch Seavey at the Start of Iditarod 2020. Mitch and team had stopped so that they could snap some pics with their Iditarider.
Robert Redington's team ( @iditarob).
I spy some #UglyDogs.
I think @QuinceMountain was enjoying high fiving as many people as possible. I didn't have a better vantage point bc this was right after my interview with Jeff Schultz and team. But I kinda like the crowd as a natural frame for the shot.
Whenever possible I sneak a pic of Jeff Schultz ( @iditarodjeff) he's pretty easy to spot in his bright yellow. I'm a stalker, what can I say, but if I could be more like any one photog, it'd be Jeff (if I had an ounce of his courage - to hang out a plane, etc...)
Sharing this because @TeamPetit3's energy was such a great moment as they drove through the parking lot and the ugly dogs around me cheered for her. Kinda felt like a parade and she was Grand Marshal.
@alaskandoggirl gets another pic in this thread simply because of how proud she is of her hot dog.
@QuinceMountain also gets another photo in this thread because his hair was magestic af(annypack) in this shot.
I have to have one of Pete Kaiser because... well... reasons.
Okay, promise, this is the last one of @alaskandoggirl, but look at all that snow?! Plus I can brag and say OMG I KNOW HER. (can you tell it's 7:30ish at night and I'm slap happy?)
Martin Buser's lead dogs charge down the chute at the ReStart.
Mitch Seavey's team at the ReStart.
I shared this as an outtake after Iditarod, but I have to share it again because the expression on the dog's face is hysterical. @iditarob
Thomas Waerner would go on to win #Iditarod2020, but on that Sunday all we could think was wow that's a lot of orange.
@MonicaZappa the colors, the smile... iconic.
And the last one I'll share tonight of @QuinceMountain's team. So. Much. Snow.
Grayson Bruton's Seavey Puppy Team.
That snow was a CHALLENGE. Glad it happened but WOW the photos didn't come out like I wanted.
