I haven't done my Top 5 yet so time to do it

LONG THREAD
5- I haven't play that much stuff this year since I played pretty much really long works, but at this point I'm almost 100% sure Michiru route of Kimi Ita is in my top 5, I'm currently in the final stretch and I'm sure my opinion won't change when I will read the final lines
I would say my big complain is probably the pacing at some point, which a recurring problem in Age works sadly. It would be probably higher if I had played it more, but I'm not confidant to put it in like 4th place or more without knowing well all the characters and the full
story. I still have a lot of thing to do in it and read since that remake is so long. We will see next year where the remake will place between the new contenders that got announced today or in the last months....
4- Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, how I couldn't talk about this. I love it in so many points, while straight up disliking others. Minagoroshi is probably one of my favorite story ever but sadly the whole work have so many problems in some aspect for me, I played pretty much
everything, OG arcs, console arcs, Arcs released by Ryukishi later, while one console arc is particular is the best stuff ever (Miotsukushi) others are kinda meh, or retcon some stuff in a bad way for my tastes. But, at the end I got such a good experience from Higurashi
I like almost everything in the cast, I get good memories while thinking about most of the episodes. Higurashi is a really a story everyone need to try at least, not just for the historical aspect but for almost all the characters, the themes, the OST in answer arc etc.
3- FFXIV Shadowbringers 5.3, yes I'm putting a MMO patch in my top of 2021. Pretty simple for this one. Because of the delayed we had to wait 6 months instead of 3 months to get the patch and the wait was worth it in everything, the story delivered, the new trial is awesome
The juxtaposition between the exarch and Elidibus was well done and such amazingly done when you take in consideration that Elidibus was almost a nobody before this patch and 5.2. Again FFXIV writers deliver. I'm looking forward for the next expansion and place it #1 in 2021
2- MUV LUV ALTERNATIVE, PEAK MAGNIUM VN DIRECTION OST STORY TELLING But... like I said for Kimi Ita, I can't sadly place it in #1 because in the end I have way more problem with the way Âge tell some stuff or do some stuff than my current #1 for this year.
Muv Luv is really great, the themes delivered so much impact to me that it made me understand some point of views that I wasn't able to understand at all which is pretty awesome. rUGP engine is just insane, building a VN engine in 3D can add so much in the way they are able
to place sprites, play with them, moving them, + with the music sometime the battles in it just feel like watching some animes, and that shit is 2006 ??? Only one year after Fate Hollow Ataraxia which Type moon was experimenting a lot of stuff that they will use later in Mahoyo
the fact the rUGP engine could deliver so much this much years before Mahoyo is just so good and now Age are just flexing on use in their most recent VNs. Like I said also earlier. Muv Luv Alternative suffer a lot in the pacing for my tastes, specially before chapter 6 and
whole chapter 8. sometime I just feel like some converstations are just too long and it just probably move on the next part in the story.
1- UMINEKO NO NAKU KORO NI, I WILL NEVER BE OBJECTIVE ABOUT IT, I LIKE EVERYTHING, THE THEMES THE STORY, THE MYSTERY GAME WITH THE READER, THE VN GIVING YOU HINTS TO SOLVE THE MYSTERY INSTEAD OF JUST GIVING IT FULLY, EVERYTHING IS SO GREAT.
I... started Umineko at first in January without expecting anything, I thought the whole story was some basic mystery and like Episode 1 would cut at the first murder... and god I was wrong... instead I got a 100 hours of battler between the writer and reader to at the end the
writer giving us the way he see storytelling in mystery genre across some 6 hours epic chuuni battle. The themes in the story directly touched me in so many ways. I don't care about the repetitivity aspect in some story point because I just see it as Ryukishi really
wanting us to understand some aspects, I just like how the whole story feel like a giant puzzle game because Ryukishi always ask us to solve it instead of giving directly the answer. The way EP5 is handled as ''mystery genre for beginners'' is so good. I ended up liking almost
everyone even the characters with the worst morality ever... Ryukishi just going full lolita fashion for all the witches design was some 12316151IQ moves, the character design is so fucking good, the OST is just some celebration and it feel placed well everywhere at every moments
I could continue for hours to explain my love for Umineko but that thread is already too long, so yeah this is my top 5 in 2020... pretty sure some people won't agree with some points I said but oh well... I just never feel confident for tastes, I don't really talk about most the
stuff I like because I feel like most of my Inner circle slander it we aren't that compatible tastes wise or maybe in the way we see stories... well anyway, thanks for reading up to this point and Happy new year.
