You can make your way through the entirety of the above documentary and never come across anything that could be considered "ideological intent" on the part of the man who rampaged through town in his armored vehicle
And yet, it is clear that he held fast to certain ideological assumptions that helped to fuel the grievances that led to his death. From the idea that he was "called" by God to do what he did
To the idea that he as a small business owner shouldn't be burdened by restriction or face consequences when he fails to abide such restrictions
One sees ideology inscribed throughout his worldview. And just because every aggrieved member of the aspiring petit bourgeoisie isn't up armoring construction vehicles doesn't mean they have slipped beyond ideology
I think what it means is that we live amidst a great deal of people whose ideology we fail to question because said ideology is prevelant to the point that to question it is to question fundamental assumptions we have about the world
