1) A note regarding everyone urging everyone else to find that shiny, happy, silver lining in this year of our Lord, 2020:

Bugger off.

It is perfectly okay to admit this year was a shitshow.
Because it was.

2) Every time y'all talk about how happy you were to spend more time w/family, I think about the people who lost loved ones this year -- in large part because some people voted for stupid things (Hi Brexit!) & stupid people (list too long) 4 years ago #ElectionsHaveConsequences

3) I think about the fact we've had more people in food lines than we've had in even my grandparents lifetime. I'm happy that some folks were able to pivot & profit (Yay livestream workouts! And books!). But a whole lot of businesses couldn't do that

4) We're in the midst of a pandemic, the first major global disaster-type event on this scale the majority of us have ever experienced in our lives.

Sure. Good things happened. (Hi, science & vaccines! And also elections.) But it was pretty much a shitshow.

5) Are things going to get better? Yep. Because we will continue to be resilient, to move forward, to have hope, and to make it so.

But nothing magical happens tomorrow.

Nothing changes tomorrow unless you do.

6) And the first step in bringing about any change is to radically accept what is.

So the folks ready to see this year pass, the ones who can't join you in your bypass to positive thinking, are doing just fine.
