2020 is coming to a close, and with it, the first full year of @FantasyStrike x @TorontoTopTiers

So I want to go through a little recap of how we got here and thank some of the folks who helped make our corner of the FGC a better place in a horrible year.

1/?
Back in late 2019 Fantasy Strike officially released. I had been playing the game since the early crowdfunding days(via Fig) and really loved it. Knowing that the Toronto FGC will play anything at least once, I decided I should run the game.

2/?
My goal was just to show off the game and maybe find a new training partner. It's hard for new games to find their niche, even in the most receptive communities. So I wasn't expecting too much.

3/?
To my surprise, we already had a couple FS player lurking, @Funkyozz was there day one, and was pretty excited to see the game in the wild.

Oz plays Super Turbo as well, and we managed to convince much of the crew to join in our early events.

4/?
Titanium was an early player too and brought in the anime and smash crew.

@Turbo_Taco was repping and pulling in the mortal kombat crowd.

They may seem like strange bedfellows for the approachable newcomer. But we all found something valuable , and our little scene grew

5/?
@NeoRussell and @MattJ0o were tireless champions. Teaching me how to run events and providing us with a platform to show off the game.

Stun city quickly became the weekly home of 1v1 Fantasy Strike.

The player and viewer count kept rising.

6/?
The game was showcased @FrostyFaustings , I frauded my way into top 8 (love you @ErickDRedd )
And the game achieved some competitive stability.

Events were happening, the playerbase was growing.

Then the corona hit.

7/?
This wasn't bad for the scene though, we've got GGPO.

@ThyPirateKing was already running online events, and soon TTT moved to digital too.

Players from all around the world came out and invaded our weekly local.

@fishdogrealness @CWheezy22 @JanetTheChao and so many more

8/?
Stun city was invaded by the fish army, then later the swarm of Onis

We showcased new players, and the old guard. Rivalries were made, revenge was had, demons were slain.

And each individual that participated contributed in important ways. From 0-2ers to all our winners. 9/?
Stun city has been my weekly escape during this terrible year. My chance to hang out with friends over some fun matches. Meet great new people, and provide a space for us all to come together over a shared passion.

10/?
Its sometimes difficult, but always rewarding.

So thank you.

To all the players who have come out.

To all the great people putting in work behind the scenes.

To all the viewers who tune in every week to cheer us on.

I love you all. And hope you'll join us next year.

11/11
Extra mention to @ErickDRedd who supported us so much in the early days. @fsLeontes for their tireless work. @MattJ0o again for being the backbone of our events. @Frostilyte for your support and advice and @Duckie201 for always pushing me as a player/reminding me I'm a scrub.

♥️
One last thing, please share some of you're fondest memories of @FantasyStrike at stun city .

I'd love to hear them

Happy new year y'all.
