Last tweet storm for the year. Some thoughts on what I'm bullish on in 2021. (not necessarily startup ideas)

1) Continued rise in entrepreneurship. Increase in tools, "businesses out of the box" cos, increased startup financing in different forms for non VC-backed cos, etc.
2) Rise in int'l opps. What does it mean to be a US co? I ask myself that all the time - post-COVID, many of our cos are remote and scattered. Cross border teams.

Emerging mkts >> US mkts

Will we see US teams going after EM opps? Int'l teams going after US opps? We'll see all
3) The beginning of the democratization of startup investing. AL, Republic, et al have started this process.

We will see so many more ppl get into this - this will start to change the funding landscape - who gets fund and how fast cos get funded.
4) GPT-3 is exciting! We'll see addl interesting AI models in 2021. These models are open which means a startup moat is no longer in tech but in data. You build a moat by collecting the most data.

How do you collect unique data? Great UX & cust acq! That's how you win going fwd.
5) Better treatment of startup employees.

Traditionally employees don't know how much their shares are worth. Hard to sell shares in secondaries. Unclear of their rights.

As the war for talent becomes hard (increase in startups), employees will require more tools here.
6) Related - private secondary mkts start to look more like public mkts. More of a mkt dynamic. Easier to buy and sell shares. More info to help you make informed decisions.

It is shockingly hard right now in the private secondary mkts.
7) Probably less of a business idea but more best practices and learnings on remote work communication. I think some companies (Gitlab et al) have knocked this out of the park, but most cos are still in the first inning on this.
8) Rise in deep fakes - for either good or bad. The latter is going to be a big problem. So how do you figure out who do you trust on the internet? And where does content stem from?
9) Super bullish on APIs. I think we are just in the first inning of APIs despite already a # of big successes.

The idea of a co creating a prod & enabling others to use it in their apps can only happen when there are just a LOT of apps/other cos. We are at that pt.
10) Changes in how workforces work. Esp as more cos go remote. Can you work for 2 cos as a psuedo employee? The blending of employee w/ freelancer - the concept of employment for 1 company perhaps starts to die.

The future seems to be indiv >> company.
11) Just my $0.02 -- we'll see what happens!

Happy new year!
