I've waited so long to open the good stuff. I felt silly popping a bottle of Veuve Clicquot for something minor. Or my wife was pregnant so we put it off again. We received a few when we got married and one or two as gifts since.
We re-gifted most of the bottles we received, sharing them with people who we hoped would use them to celebrate events that mattered. But I insisted on saving one - just one - for us. Tonight, as you may be aware, is New Year's Eve. In a pandemic. So we popped the fancy bottle.
I prefer Prosecco. Or Cava. Or even the cheap Bambino. Yes, I'm a classless pig. But if 2020 has taught me anything, it's that you should aggressively celebrate every event, every holiday and every milestone. No more saving the good stuff. Or the cheap stuff I apparently prefer.
