I don't know jack about feeding cattle so I can only share some ideas that serve us well on the meat side. So here goes:
Keep your inventory current. A current inventory makes you a stronger seller always.
Don't overpay for anything. We make more $$$ on the buy than the sell.
Talk to lots of customers and do it yourself. We will not use a intermediary to buy or sell anything on our behalf. If we don't have at least 5 customers for a item we won't buy it.
Have a few friends in the business you can work with. Even if they are competitors it is good to have some to bounce ideas off of or to maybe help you solve a problem.
Know you cost in detail.
Hire character over experience.
Treat everyone you come in contact with the same. Smile often. Be respectful and kind when you can. Firm and dead serious when you have to.
I wish you all good luck and prosperous 2021.
