I don't get tired recognizing how hard my @nwi colleagues work. They toiled through an unprecedented year to inform the Region. Several put together their favorite selections from 12 months of dogged coverage that meant the most to them:
. @nwi_BobK keeps an ever watchful eye on the events in Porter and LaPorte counties. He studied and disseminated the grim happenings in the counties' courts and reported how the communities responded to a pandemic and social justice. https://bit.ly/3hwWdYe
. @NWI_MikeClark delivers sobering perspectives in his columns. He provided a voice of reason in a year where emotions ran high among opposite sides. He also highlighted several local sports figures' lives, both those with us and those that departed. https://bit.ly/3n3zB2L
. @nwi_jsp never gives up an opportunity to share the story of someone in or from the Region blazing their trail and making a difference. He continued to lift up those voices, even while many of them struggled to wade through a crippling pandemic. https://bit.ly/3pBU2pg
. @Mary_Freda1 finds and composes enticing profiles from around the Region. She tenderly approached and captured these people's accomplishments and adversities. She also remained hard-nosed on her south Lake County beat. https://bit.ly/2Minfah
. @nwi_EloiseV has her ear to the ground on entertainment developments across Chicagoland. The pandemic brought about many cancellations and workarounds in the theater and food scenes, and she shifted gears to show how people overcame the circumstances. https://bit.ly/387QDc5
. @carleylanich is always plugged in on NWI's education landscape. The ground around her constantly shifted as students and parents navigated remote and in-person learning. She also showed how educators stepped up to provide the best for their kids. https://bit.ly/3rGjdZz
. @RomeovilleKid maneuvered through a continually changing sports scene. In a year filled with calls for social justice, he gathered many important, informative Black athletes and coaches' voices, and also took the time to share his own. https://bit.ly/3n3FU6r
. @Sports_Aaron juggles a lot as an editor. When he has the time, he pens illuminating profiles about athletes' lives on the field, but also off of it in their other activities. He likes to find, as @GRIII puts it, the "know your why" side of things. https://bit.ly/3n1rsMs
. @nwi_DanCarden is always there to cover the developments from local and state governments. He disseminated numerous changes as leaders tried to govern through a pandemic and as some vied to earn or retain offices in key election races. https://bit.ly/3839q8k
. @nwi_ASteele is in the know when it comes to infrastructure and transportation changes in the Region. A pandemic didn't stop progress for many developers as NWI saw new construction additions with its streets, railroads and brick-and-mortar offices. https://bit.ly/38P3WwZ
