Here’s a picture of innocent, naive Meghan on New Year’s Eve 2019. Unbeknownst to her, this would be quite a year. Allow me to share this journey with you.

I read a lot of books this year, but this one that I read in January 2020 deserves a special mention. It really changed how I look at things. 2/22
2020 was a year of activism. Wet’suwet’en and Black Lives Matter being the main ones I attended in person but it was also a year for learning how to use my voice as white person with so much privilege and also as a teacher to make things better. 3/22
I celebrated a milestone birthday before Tom Hanks got COVID so I could celebrate with family and friends and it was a lot of fun. 4/22
In the first lockdown, my son and I started making French-language YouTube videos about science. We made about 12 and had a lot of fun together. I was totally honoured to be recognized by my union for my efforts. 6/22
I had a viral tweet that showcased some of the efforts I and my fellow community members made to try to stay cheerful despite the lockdown. 7/22
I founded an inclusive and less shitty community Facebook group for St Vital called St Vital Old and New 10/22
We visited all the #OpenStreets 11/22
@Palmquist88 and I made the life-changing purchase of an e-bike and made lots of cool cyclists friends at coop vélocité 13/22
We organized with some neighbours a social-distancing-friendly block party on our street that featured an active transportation rally, street hockey, and a curbside concert. 14/22
We got a bobike baby seat from @plainbicycle and also a bell for Félix! 15/22
We discovered that the bobike seat wouldn’t fit either of our bikes, enter Edna, the tandem bike that I worked on for days to fix up. 16/22
We promptly removed him from kindergarten as the Covid cases started to skyrocket in fall. We had some lovely homeschooling adventures. 19/22
