Don’t really *do* New Year but as this one draws to a close thought it might to nice to note a few of the positive things 2020 produced that, for me, ONLY came about because of ... well you know.
1. Friendships

I found my close friendships got even stronger. WhatsApps, Zooms and checking-in on each other doubled. And when we chatted, we had all become a little more understanding, compassionate and supportive of each other as well as being honest about when we were sad.
Added to this, acquaintances with whom I might have caught up with for a drink a few times a year in the old days burgeoned into new, close friends.
WhatsApps became Zooms and when we could the Zooms became catch-ups and I realised I never once felt alone despite the separation.
Looking back, I can't say I've ever had a year where I've felt MORE loved by my friends and I am so grateful that this was one happy, byproduct of such a difficult year as it will endure.
2. 🚲 Cycling.

@BevanShields coaxed me onto a Boris bike sometime in the spring and I never looked back.

Within weeks I retrieved my own bike, last ridden around Canberra's Lake Burley Griffin on 2015, and now easily ride 4 miles in 25 mins or so (for me that's good).
However, am told cycling NOT advisable after a bottle of Chablis and 3 negronis...

3. London: It was heartbreaking seeing this city I love so very much shut down and unhappily still but cycling opened it up to me in a way I'd never previously experienced and I appreciated something new in the architecture.
... As I found riding over the Thames every day a hugely comforting experience with the vast expanse of architecture dating from so many different centuries acting as a visual reminder of how much London has already endured and is capable of overcoming.
