In three hours, our transition from EU membership ends and our deal with the EU as an independent nation begins.
As a Brexiteer I am pleased, of course. But I & others have been accused of triumphalism or factionalism; if it seems like that, the fact that we’ve had to struggle time & again to realise what had already been decided is why.
Now we come together as a country, I believe & hope.
I’ve truly never understood those so committed to the EU they’d rather be right & see our country do badly, than be wrong & see our country do well.
That group is now vanishingly small, however much Twitter might magnify it.

And for those who didn’t vote for Brexit, who don’t want it, I hope you’ll forgive the millions of us a moment’s pleasure that it’s finally, finally truly here.
