If have never been or grew up on a rez or settlement then you don't know how much native people are at a disadvantage regarding technology. Most Native people in their communities will always be behind regarding online opportunities because it's non existent or it's too slow.
Indigenous people have so many amazing stories to tell and share with other indigenous people & the world. They can't because the technology just isn't available. Can you imagine tuning in to a live twitch stream & see someone speaking Dene, weaving a basket or harvesting a deer?
Meanwhile people are becoming famous on YouTube pranking people. When I go back home it takes 8-12 hours to upload one youtube video and it takes so much bandwidth from whoever's house I am at.
I have spoken to famous native tiktokers with millions of followers who talk about having to make their tiktoks and wait until they go into their nearest settler town to upload ONE tiktok because it can't be done or it takes too long to upload in their own communities.
Lack of water is just one of many issues that indigenous communities face. Nevermind MMIW, highest suicide rates in the world and high incarceration rates.
A lot of my people are amazing storytellers. I'd love to see way more indigenous streamers, youtubers, tiktokers. The infrastructure just isn't there.
