What a challenging year it’s been in Camden & elsewhere. But amongst the darkness, there’s been so much to he hopeful about. Here’s 10 things in a thread from 2020:
the completion of Holmes Road accommodation for homeless adults in Kentish Town. How fantastic do they look?! 
in March, after months (and years) of hard work, residents on West Kentish Town estate, voted overwhelmingly FOR estate regeneration to end overcrowding. 93% voting yes. 
in June we unveiled a 4 section rainbow 
crossing in the heart of Camden Town, to celebrate diversity & all our LGBT+ community. With rising hate & fear, particularly directed to our Trans community this matters. 
Amidst economic challenges, our high streets and local businesses have been fighting back. We’ve distributed more than £75m in grants and backed great initiatives like fantastic streateries in @BelsizeVillage & @FitzPartnership
With rising 
unemployment, the council’s Good Work Camden employment service has rolled out new local hubs & support workers - now helping 300 people into training & work. https://goodwork.camden.gov.uk
things many took for granted like food, medicines & digital devices became scarce. Our voluntary sector worked tirelessly & we managed to provide £1m extra support to help, including emergency CIL funding 
We delivered new council homes at Kiln Place, Gospel Oak & new supported housing at Chalk Farm. With poor housing under the microscope due to Covid-19, its important to keep pushing for more new council homes in Camden.
After months of failed action by HS2 
- in October @CamdenCouncil stepped in and offered to rehouse 100 families blighted by endless construction works day/night. A huge relief for so many! 
Bringing together a network of businesses, training providers, the @KQ_London and @CamdenCouncil we aimed to get 200 Kickstarter jobs for young people. And we’re almost there with over 170 delivered! http://www.camden.gov.uk/kickstart
Ending the year... In December, we approved new council homes. 10 new family sized council homes. The first local pilot of modular construction to speed up delivery. More to come on 2021. Works also began on Maitland Park & Highgate Newtown. 
Here’s to 2020 being over, and to a 2021 filled with more joy, good heath, new jobs and council homes that so many need. A big thank you to everyone who has made these achievements happen across our community, VCS, businesses & the amazing public servants @CamdenCouncil
