It's not fair to call Bitcoin Maximalism a religion or cult. It's the end result of thinking clearly.
1) a lot of opportunity for individuals and institutions in developing countries was destroyed in 2017 / 2018 due to the ICO & "blockchain not bitcoin" nonsense. many risk averse but open minded people got distracted & derailed by all these "shiny new coins"
3) I don't like dunking on people's projects, but i clearly remember noticing how suspicious it was that certain projects, like Ripple, we being actively promoted in places like Ghana and in the Caribbean. A lot of real people have been hurt by these crazy pipedream projects
4)*I think investing should be open to all but this whole "tech bro vc enthusiasm" applied to "crypto" is pernicious. Mostly privileged, connected people get huge sums of non recourse capital from entities that can take on extraordinary risk due to lucky bets years ago.
5) Then they go on, form "community teams" work with market makers and traders behind the scenes and promote these things in countries where people are desperate to escape the hell of perennially crashing currencies. It's kind of sick. AND WE'RE ANGRY AT THE RUDE BITCOIN PEOPLE??
6) had a meeting with a central bank. Gave them a bunch of ledgers and opendimes. Individuals there were into crypto and I did a presentation explaining the difference between that and my argument re: bitcoin. So yeah i kind of don't like "crypto" it creates intellectual friction
7) Tried to get another meeting with a Central bank in a Caribbean country but got no traction because my contact was put off by some of the crypto scammers who had relocated there. There's a bittersweet element to this year for me because a lot of individuals and institutions
8) Were very very close to "getting it" the free core banking aspect. Hard money savings technology. Opportunity to build better tools on and around it. The implosion and fallout from the ICO and other scam bubbles just kneecaped what could have been over the past 3 years.
9) So. if you're an angry bitcoin maximalist. Cheers to you. Thank you. Keep pointing out the scams. Sharpen your logic, do your research and attack. Don't let them steal people's attention away from the opportunity unfolding with this new global savings technology
