Mortal Shell is a Souls-like action game with a few notable tweaks, including a clever blocking mechanic. The world is as bleak as they come, but you can still stop to pet a cat.

The Procession to Calvary is a goofy point-and-click adventure game that looks and sounds like a Monty Python sketch. Kill almost any NPC, get smote from on high and pet a tiny lion.

Sludge Life is a unique open-world game, set on a small island densely packed with character. Tag every surface you can, meet plenty of oddballs and make sure to turn on the "dog lover" option in the menu.

Ring of Pain is a fiendish roguelike card battler in the vein of Slay the Spire or Monster Train. I had a hard time putting this one down, even when I didn't have the special dog-petting artifact.

Over the Alps is a charming narrative adventure that uses postcards to tell its spy thriller yarn. Navigate 1930s Switzerland and make vital choices with real consequences, like whether or not to pet a dog.

Going Under is a colorful roguelike action game that pits players against the remnants of failed startups. Lovely characters (and a lovely dog) in this one.
