2020 has been a strange one. Here’s a quick thread on the last 12 months, starting on the very last day of January.
January. What would have been the odds on the UK’s first reported cases of coronavirus being treated on our doorstep at Castle Hill hospital in Cottingham? Both patients - a mother and son from Wuhan - recovered.
February: Bit of a wet and windy one, as I recall.
March: Went to this public health campaign launch at a packed Trinity Market thinking ‘Is this safe?’ Three days later the national lockdown was announced.
April: The nation faced a dilemma. Do we all become couch potatoes or do we become more like Greg?
May: As Matt Hancock’s Half-Hour attempted to become the worst TV show ever made, people resorted to their own safety messaging in Cottingham.
June: If ever there was a reason to avoid going to Ikea, this was it.
July: Lots of new street art in Hull this year, most of it good. This one popped up in July.
August: Summertime and the livin’ is easy.
September: Sad to see Alan Marshall’s wonderful Humber car collection being sold off. A real loss for Hull.
