Why Marcel Sabitzer would be a perfect January window signing for Spurs, a thread.

Sabitzer is 26 and is a midfielder at Leipzig, who seems to be Mourinho’s main target as a potential midfield signing.

Spurs desperately need some attacking threat from players other than
Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son. So they are in the market for a RW and a creative midfielder.

Sabitzer has played both roles at Leipzig. Last season, according to transfermarkt, he scored 9 goals and bagged 8 assists in 18 RW appearances in all comps. Thats better than any
Output Spurs RWs had over the whole 38 league game season last year.

His defensive stats from last season also stack up nicely compared to our RW options (see pics below) which is very important because the ability to track back and help defensively is something Mou values in
a right winger in the current Spurs system.

He offers a blend of attacking production and strong workrate up and down the pitch, making him an ideal fit at our RW spot

His versatility also makes him valuable. He’s played games at RW, the 10 spot and as an 8 in recent times at
Leipzig. Mourinho is known to value players who offer positional versatility, so that’s another box checked in terms of a potential fit here.

Sabitzer only has 18 months left on his contract at RB Leipzig meaning a deal could be more feasible than it normally would be
He’s also reportedly interested in a move to the Premier League, meaning Spurs could be seen as an attractive landing spot for him.

If Levy is willing to re-open the checkbook in January, there’s a deal there to be done. This squad clearly could use a boost and RW is a spot that
Could very much use addressing. We can’t rest on our lorrals if we want to win a trophy, we must keep adding to improve the squad.

This is a signing which could really boost our chances of finally getting over the line and winning silverware.
