My Way-Too-Early One-Man 2021 Redraft Mock

(12 Team/PPR/Superflex)

[A THREAD]
I put together a way-too-early 2021 redraft mock & picked every pick myself. I wanted to break down my thought process on a few different topics:
- Kelce at 1.01

I’ll do a full thread eventually, but the elevator pitch is this – if you pass on Kelce at 1.01, you’re 100% missing on Kittle & you’re also risking someone getting smart & sniping Waller before it gets back to you at 2.12…
And if you miss on the top-3 TE’s, your next best options are a rookie Kyle Pitts, Noah Fant, Andrews, or Hockenson… which ain’t the end of the world & should have its moments, but it’s not the consistency I want from my one set-and-forget TE starter…
Another thing to consider is that the RB’s won’t dry up mid-RD2 like they did last year. There’s almost 20 RB’s I’d feel comfortable with as my RB1 & there isn’t a huge gap separating RB10-RB24 for me.
That means you’re definitely going to be able to get an RB1 you like at 2.12 to pair with Kelce, even if there’s a hella RB-run & they’re the only position taken in RD2.
With the lack of elite depth at TE & the the late-RD2 RB’s, it’s 100% justifiable to take Kelce 1.01. He’s already scoring as many fantasy points as anyone, so any pushback is unwarranted. If you’re prioritizing getting a top-3 TE, you should have no issue pulling the trigger.
- Darren Waller & George Kittle after the Big-5 RB’s

First off, I’m heading into 2021 with Waller > Kittle… https://twitter.com/GuruFantasyWrld/status/1342144043938172930?s=20
I could & may bump JT ahead, but 1.07/1.08 feels appropriate for the two TE’s. Which isn’t a slight to JT/Chubb, it’s just that the difference between them & the RD2 RB’s is nothing compared to the drop-off at TE from Kelce/Kittle/Waller.
To me, it’s just not worth going RB with my first pick & risking two wise guys getting smart on the turn and sniping Kittle & then Waller before it gets back to me at 2.05/2.06. I’ll take the TE’s first & “settle” for a RD2 RB.
-Davante & Tyreek

As a general rule, I never go WR in the first 2 rounds, no matter what, because of how much WR depth there is. But I’m starting to reconsider that heading into 2021, especially with a massive (& inevitable?) RD3 QB-run pushing RB talent to the back-end of RD4.
I can’t do zero-RB, but after the turmoil at RB this year, I don’t feel like I need an RB/RB start. I don’t want to over-invest & get left “holding the bag” at RB. Ideally, I want two RB's thru RD4 – no more, no less, so I can also get two elite performers at two other positions.
- RD3 QB-run

A RD3 QB-run feels pretty much inevitable at this point. If you don’t ride that wave & decide to leave the first 4 rounds without a top-12 QB, it feels like it’ll put you at a massive disadvantage.
I don’t love the value of Tanny/Tua RD4, but if I’m picking 4.01/4.02, I feel like I have to take one of QB11-14 (Tanny/Tua/Fields/Lawrence) because they could be gone by 5.11 & after QB15 (Brady), it’s Brees & then a massive drop into no man’s matchup-based streamer land.
That’s why I’d take Burrow > Brees (& maybe even Brady), even if I’m only expecting to get him in the back-half of the season. The rest of the QB's are so “meh” that you might as well reach for an injured Burrow & pair him with a 3rd QB later as insurance.
- RB’s solid through RD4

The top-24 RB’s look secure heading into '21 (which feels odd). RB2’s might bleed into RD5, but not far. Javonte/Pollard/Edmonds/San Fran RB’s are the only RB’s I’m really interested in after that, at least right now, and Javonte’s ADP could soar.
- RD5/6 TE-turn

I really don’t wanna be here. But if I’m not getting Kelce/Kittle/Waller, I’d rather pick one of Pitts/Fant/Andrews/Hock here & hope they ascend than to punt further, because relying on what’s left at the 7/8 turn is horrifying & far too risky for my liking.
- WR depth

WR is deeper than ever & that’s why you won’t see me craft a single team with more than one WR through 4 rounds. I don’t mind taking one, but I want 2 RB’s thru RD4, a top-12 QB, and to reach for one of those top-3 TE’s. I’ll happily get my WR2/3/4 RD6 & later.
- Rookies

I ranked the rookies closer to their floor here than their ceiling – and I only included 7 for now (Harris, Etienne, Fields, Lawrence, Pitts, Chase, & Javonte). I expect to add many more & to move some of the 7 already listed up once I see the landing spots.
Overall, there’s a ton to digest & this is far from a finished product. I just wanted to share where my redraft thoughts are heading into 2021.

Thanks for reading! I hope I was able to provoke some deeper thought & hopefully you enjoyed the thread!
