Re: *some* left-anarchist projects.

Their social mechanisms manage to remove the police only by turning literally everyone into the police.

Their solution to Tradegy of Commons: everyone must punish whoever is overgrazing, and also punish anyone who isnt punishing enough, etc.
Moreover, they manage to remove laws (public, explicit, accountable rules) only by replacing them with social norms (private, implicit, unaccountable rules). Which seems worse.
They manage to remove currency transactions only by replacing them with "gift"-like transactions (shady, nepotistic, unregulatable, difficult to track and compute with). I suspect that the same problems with standard markets will resurface 100-fold in a gift-based market.
Coordination is hard, REALLY hard. Other than resource scarcity, almost all our problems are coordination problems. So we need MORE tools for coordination, not less.

I fully support left-anarchists designing additional tools for coordination. Good luck to them. Good will to all.
Often unjust social norms outlast unjust laws. Why?

Think race, homosexuality, gender, etc.
Because laws are explicit, accountable, public, almost instantly amenable, and "democratic" etc. At least, more than social norms.

So you can SEE the absurdity of a racist law, you know you voted for it, etc. If you force Them to change it, They can do so overnight.
Now, we still have very unjust laws, and law-enforcement is COMPLETELY fucked! Can you imagine if the police weren't even nominally required to support laws, but just enforced their own social norms!
I suspect that the best response is to make laws MORE <good adjectives, see above>, not less. Likewise with law-enforcement.

Many are left-anarchists are doing the honest toil of constructing these new social mechanisms. Which is mathematically difficult, full of subtle traps.
I am however quite optimistic. With material technology solving resource-scarity -- and with new social technology solving coordination -- and with an emerging alturism aligning values -- I think we will soon have the tools for a flourishing and just society.
Happy new year everyone!
Ran into character limit, but i could make a long list of coordination tools, old and new, which left-libs should admire:

Please add some examples!
New tools:
- decision/prediction markets (but only in certain cases!! unrestricted prediction markets are assassination markets)
- replace GDP with a democratically-aggregated metrics of success
- nonprofit insurance
- digital anonymity (works well when paired with house-rules)
