New year ‘20
I’d only started investing this style mid 2019 and been lucky enough to have a slight positive ending for ‘19. I was very much finding my feet with investing and was in and out of holdings but luckily no major losses, largely feeling like an noob with a lot to learn

Jan/Feb had a lot going on as I was selling out of my tree surgery business.
PF ticking along nicely.. later realising with what’s to come, I’m not paying enough attention nor understanding what I own thoroughly enough.
It’s also my first time Salmon fishing

Spring - I go skiing and nearly shut out of the UK due to lockdown,23 hour solo drive door to door from Samoens. I get covid upon returning and the market crashes
This was a huge lesson in confidence in my PF, I sell out of a few holdings (my winners) and reach a low of -26% YTD

Spring - I am able to get my 2019 ISA allowance in JIT and gain some confidence to buy as the bounce takes effect.
Biggest mistakes here are speculating on the market and selling half my GAW position. Positives were realising what I was comfortable owning in uncertain times

Summer - filled with work, DIY, fishing, riding and camper van adventures. My best buys in hindsight are SDI and SDG. At the end of May I get back to break even and a few grey hairs
I’m now paying much more attention, reading more books and daily RNS’ than ever before.

Autumn - I end up finally cutting some of my biggest losers after hanging on way too long. SHOE and VTU are gone and my PF is slowly taking shape with less co.s and more quality. I buy D4T4 SOM and PMP which go on to add dramatically to my YTD return.
Winter - I’ve changed my PF quite a lot through the year with the benefit of fresh capital at an opportune time. It’s now more concentrated and with a large holding of what I deem value, co.s backed with tangible assets and strong balance sheets.
It’s led to more comfort in what I hold, ultimately not too comfortable as I still have unproven growth aspects in there which I hope materialise. It’s gaining traction and something I’m more and more comfortable with and happy to add to. (House renovations ready for sale)
I’ve learnt to pay attention more and improved how I research. The big certainty I’ve taken away this year is that Graham’s gold top jersey milk with the cream on top is by far the best milk I’ve ever tasted, I highly recommend the switch. Investing - i’m still much a rookie
