Apropos of nothing, a memory popped into my head last night. When I was 13 I went to an all-girls school in Jerusalem. All the students in took English but the English speakers (those of us who came from English speaking homes) only had class once a week.
Anyway, one the other day when the rest of the students had class, we had a free period. So what did these innocent religious girls do during that free period? Well, we read dirty book out loud of course. I was the one who brought the first book boldy titled:
"How To Make Your Wife Your Mistress". I found it just sitting there on the bookshelf at home. This was 1985 but I'm sure the book was written in the seventies. The one thing I remember from the book was that they recommended buying mirrored tiles to tile the bedroom ceiling.
At 13, I didn't question the feasibility of this DYI activity. But last night I started thinking that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. How can you be sure they tiles won't fall on the bed and glass won't splinter everywhere? How do you explain that in the ER?
So then I thought, well what if you use cement? How would you keep the tile on the ceiling while you waited for the cement to dry? Would someone need to stand there holding each tile while it dried? And if that did work, imagine the damage that would do to the ceiling.
At some point you are going to want to take the tiles down. I mean I would think before selling the house at least. I mean can you imagine going to an open house and seeing a mirrored ceiling above the bed? You would have to figure in costs for extensive repairs and
therapy to get those images out of your head. In my mind, an older couple is selling the house, because who else would have some 1970's, disco, key party, swingers, mirrored ceiling above their bed? Anyway, the only other book I remember reading was "Wifey".
All that stuck out in that book was that protagonist had sex with a OB/GYN who had diaphragms is all sorts of sizes. Oh, and she was obsessed with Jackie Onassis. But really, this thread is about mirrored ceilings.
