2. These caricatures or 'perception gaps' are lowest among more moderate people and increase as people are more politically extreme. Which suggests that people who have more accurate views of the political landscape tend not to be extremists.
3. Most media consumption is associated with worse perception gaps. The exceptions being some good old fashioned ABC, NBC, & CBS.
4. Education has no relationship with perception gaps for Republicans. For Democrats, education *increases* perception gaps.
5. Why does education make Democrats more wrong about their political opponents? Perhaps because more educated Democrats live in more politically homogeneous bubbles. ( @PsychRabble, thought you'd like this one).
6. People who share political content on social media have larger perception gaps. So probably the political content we see on social media comes form a nonrandom sample of people with more political hostility toward their opponents.
7. If living in politically homogeneous bubbles makes us more wrong about the views of our political opponents, one way to tune your own political goggles: more friendships and sincere conversations with people who do not share your political views.
