3/ Daniel, a Hebrew prophet exiled to Babylon, but trusted by the king as an adviser, was in the “wise men” group slated for execution. When the executioner Arioch comes to call?

5/ the dream is of a giant statue that Represents the current Babylon kingdom as the golden head, and future world kingdoms of Persia (Iran) Greece and finally Rome, as the shoulders, thighs and legs, respectively.
6/ The date of this dream was the 2nd year of King Neb’s rule, 603 BC. The golden head represented Babylon, which lasted from 605-562 BC.
6/ The king’s dream of the statue prophecy played out in part, within the prophet Daniel’s lifetime. The night the silver shoulders’ kingdom conquered the head was 12 October 539 BC.

8/ You can see that in Daniel’s lifetime, both the Golden head and the subsequent shoulders of Silver, showed the dream and the prophecy were true. Next came the Bronze midsection of Greece. 11/ wow - Got to inject here that the evidence for the reliability of Scripture is overwhelming! Contemporaneous ancient history verifies that the statue prophecy came true, just as God and Daniel said it would.
12/ but moving on. I promised we would compare/contrast Nebuchadnezzar’s statue dream in chapter 2 with Daniel’s own dream in chapter 7.

13/ The statue dream outlines Ancient history to come.
Babylon, the Medo- Persian empire, Alexander the great‘s Greece, and then Rome.
Spiritually speaking, these kingdoms laid the groundwork in preparation for Messiah’s first arrival “in the fullness of time”.

16/ After Silver= Bronze. Greece. Alexander the Great, when he conquered the world, spread the Greek language from the Mediterranean to India, laying the foundation for worldwide Koine Greek, The language of the Apostles’ New Testament.
17/ Alex’s early demise, foretold in Daniel 8, occurs, dividing the kingdom. His greek successor, Antiochus Epiphanes, blasphemes the Jewish temple by sacrificing a pig to Zeus. 18/ so by the time of the Rise of the statue’s 4th kingdom, Rome, the Jews were back in their homeland, albeit as a province, Judea, under the heel of Rome, though afforded a measure of religious freedom. They were eagerly awaiting a political Messiah.

19/ the timing was perfect, in the Plan, God’s Plan to redeem mankind. Rome , though brutal, ruled the known ancient world in a time of peace, the Pax Romana. One world, connected by roads and common language...Perfect for spreading the Good News that the Prince of Peace has come

21/ Note that the legs of the statue, made of iron, and the toes of mixed iron and clay represent Rome. Some think the legs just of iron are the first Roman empire, and the toes mixed with Clay and iron are the resurgent Roman empire in the last days
22/ 4 beasts correlate w the 4 ancient empires. Lion, bear , leopard, Dragon.

23/ Daniel’s 4 beasts , Lion, Bear, leopard, dragon do correlate with the ancient kingdoms, but they also show empires of the end of days, and that is what troubled Daniel. What future kingdoms could they mean?
24/ IMO Daniels Lion with the Eagles wings later ripped off represents England as the lion and America as the eagle, Ripping away during our 1776 war of independence.
25/ At its height the British Empire was the largest the world had ever known. The sun never set upon its dominions. Though far from perfect, the British empire did greatly facilitate spreading of the gospel in the 18-20th centuries, With the worldwide missionary movement.
