As we come to the end of 2020 we thought it was worth summarising the fantastic contribution @LancsSpecials have given to @LancsPolice in this unprecedented , challenging and one of a kind year of 2020 (a thread)... (1/10)
We’ve worked hard and made a #SpecialContribution of 60,117 hours across the year (equivalent to an extra 1561 police officer working weeks). This equals an average of 296 hours and 40 duties per officer across a whole range of tasks... (2/10)
Since March we’ve assisted the COVID19 response, giving up more time than ever with six officers going full-time under employer supported policing, and many more increasing their duty hours, sometimes through furlough and changes to university timetables so we could… (3/10)
We’ve contributed in the lockdown periods, supporting @LancsResilience visit every care home in the county, sorting PPE for our hospitals, distributing food to councils, foodbanks and the public and moving 50,000 Easter Eggs to children across the county. Still… (4/10)
We’ve supported our local neighbourhood and targeting teams across the county. Preston supported licensing colleagues completing over 350 visits in one weekend whilst Morecambe specials have completed cycle and plain clothes patrols in problem areas. At the same time… (5/10)
We’ve made our roads safer @LancsRoadSafety , East specials seized over 20 vehicles in the last three months, our @LancsTacOps Safer Roads Team have supported operations countywide and Lancaster/Fleetwood specials recently completed a joint drink drive operation. Also… (6/10)
We’ve continued our important role on response teams. Specials have been responsible for locating stolen cars, finding missing children and taking statements. Blackpool specials have staffed a carrier every Saturday night to assist since March. This hasn’t stopped us… (7/10)
We’ve trained hard. Completing our annual first aid and personal safety training, rolling out new bodycams to every special. We’ve also been at HQ completing basic A-B driving, van/carrier conversions and 15 of us completing our new cycle course. Despite the year… (8/10)
We’ve developed new skills. Eighteen specials have signed off as independent and can now patrol on their own. Specials have completed speed laser training, intoxilyser training and worked towards new courses coming in the future. We couldn’t have done this without… (9/10)

We’ve come to the end. It’s been a bumper year but we wanted to say thank you to our followers for supporting us, colleagues on response, NHP and @LancsTacOps for helping us, SMT, @LancashireVP, @PSMartinMidgley and every special for everything in 2020, here’s to 2021!
