Best Art Direction: Ghost of Tsushima
Lots of games have a “must take a screenshot” moment, but this game may have broken twitter with the amount of screen shares.
Everything from the world layout to armor design and environmental lighting- it works so well and is breathtaking

Best Puzzle Game 2020: Pikmin 3 Deluxe
This RTS unit management game is made better by good music overflowing charm and decent coop modes. Fun enemy puzzles and world exploration as well.
I never played the WiiU version and this was joy

Best RPG: Final Fantasy VII: Remake
Hitting me in the nostalgic feels I was already biased- but its insane presentation, updated real-time action combat system and developed character stories set this apart into something special

Imported and adored the original on PS3 months before the West would get it- this Remake truly is the game to get for PS5 currently. Get it-

Hands down the most comprehensive I have seen of a AAA game- Naughty Dog really sets the standard for what big budget games should strive for.
I will let @stevesaylor explain it better than me here

Full controller remapping and kb/m support on console is a welcome addition (to most of Ubisofts 2020/2021 games too)

Disappointment of the Year: The state of Cyberpunk 2077 at launch
There have been numerous sites and articles written about this. So I will keep it short and sweet.
72 Errors in my ~38 hours on PS5 (before launch patch)
About a dozen CTD on current patch on PC
yeah.

My Underrated game of 2020: Immortals Fenyx Rising
Derivative almost to a fault this Greek Mythology action rpg-lite stole the best ideas from BoTW/asscreed/Amalur
Couple that with a fantastic score, beautiful graphics and EPIC puzzle solving-it has been a treat
Ubi’s best

Runner up: 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
13 high school students who pilot giant robots to fight Kaiju
The bulk of the game follows the students in 2D exploring story but the combat is akin to tower defense, units have defined abilities and it can be quite brutal and satisfying

I didn’t see a whole lot of love for this on my feed but the game deserves the attention.
Game I missed I am starting soon: Yakuza Like A Dragon
Plan was to get a Series X and then secure a copy- welp that plan never happened- so I will play through it on PC starting next week.
