So here’s the thing. I feel like this panel is going to twist a lot of underwear and be waved as a sign that “mutants are the bad guys here” but this is EXACTLY the sentiment humans have been putting into practice, the exact sentiment ppl wanted mutants to keep forgiving.
If it applies, ask yourself why you want mutants to live among humans (who are actively killing them)? yet rhetoric from one mutant makes you uncomfortable in a way you never are when you see sentinels, or Orchis: real, advanced manifestations of a genocidal ethos.
This panel is finally gonna put a lot of majority group readers in the position they’ve demanded of minority readers for decades. Being expected to cheer for the betterment of characters that want to eliminate who you identify with. Let’s see how they do???
And if you’re there thinking “that makes mutant just as bad, they’re meant to be BeDdEr!” Then youre viewing mutants as tools of human improvement. Because the mutants ARE finally better...at protecting themselves and living for themselves. Investigate why you don’t like that.
And if we could all just get along there wouldn’t be a nuke program, most times a path can only be forged through mutual understanding of destruction, because getting people who have power to relinquish that power out of the good of their hearts. Not easy.
So I’m all here for a new, sharper version of mutants hitting the stores. For humans to start getting met with the same energy. Maybe it’ll teach humans a lesson and force readers to weigh up the cost of their stance when HUMAN lives are of the scale. 🤔🤔🤔
